Pigeons

Pigeons are the top reported pest bird not only locally but across the nation. Pigeons cause property owners thousands of dollars each year in cleanup and damage costs.  Pest Pros will customize a program tailored to your locations needs.

Programs may consist of the following methods:

Exclusion & deterrent products
Removal and cleaning of nesting areas
Trap, remove and prevent re-entry
Various harassment methods

Pigeons are typically grey and white, stout-bodied birds with short necks. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and plants. Pigeons build flimsy nests, often using sticks and other debris, which may be placed in roof junctions, on ledges, under rooftop solar panels or AC units, depending on species. They typically have an average life span of 3-5 years in the wild.  Pigeons are descended from the rock dove, which nested, on cliffs; domesticated birds founded feral populations across the globe.  Because of their ancestry the pigeons found in our cities find our buildings ideal sites to land, roost and nest.  Our structures provide the birds with shelter, protection from predators and a food source.

The Problem

Pigeons can cause a great deal of damage to structures as well as carry a variety of transmittable diseases.  When birds decide to take residence on your structure, they leave behind their feces, which is very acidic and can quickly erode building materials.  There have been several cases where structures have collapsed due to the build-up of pigeon droppings, especially after heavy rains, creating a potentially dangerous situation.  When pigeon droppings are left to dry near building A.C. units, vents, or on window ledges, the dry particles may be pulled into building ventilation and inhaled by those inside, which can potentially lead to serious illness.

We do not remove roosting bats during mating season, if young are present (May 15th- September 1st
as the young cannot take flight and they are very beneficial to the environment.

Bat Exclusion

Bats cause property owners thousands of dollars each year in cleanup and damage costs.  Pest Pros will customize a program tailored to your locations needs.

Programs may consist of the following methods:

Exclusion & deterrent products
Removal and cleaning of nesting/roosting areas
Remove and prevent re-entry with one way doors
Various harassment methods

There are three common species of bats in California:

All of these bats often roost in man-made buildings and love the attics of homes. None of these animals are actually blind, but they do use echolocation in order to aid in navigation on the wing. They are all insectivorous and can eat up to 3000 mosquitos per night.

The Problem

Large colonies of bats can not only be noisy and unsettling around dusk and dawn, as swarms of bats fly in and out, they can cause considerable health concerns as they leave their droppings and urine behind. The larger the colony, the greater the concern. Not only can the droppings (guano) and urine corrode building materials, but large accumulations of droppings can create the potential for ceilings to collapse. Not only does the bat guano have a pungent odor, but it can harbor fungal spores that potentially lead to the lung disease Histoplasmosis.  The other large concern would be potential exposure and transmission of Rabies. Most cases of rabies locally, occur in bats.

When small rodents such as skunks, squirrels and raccoons enter your home they can cause serious damage to you home. Let us help by humanely trapping and removing them from your property. We also go the extra step by tailoring a program to prevent the issue in the future.
